Inis Eonáin a bespoke dwelling in the Cork countryside is modelled on a traditional farm house with emphasis placed on vernacular rural architecture. The Cork County Council planner’s report described the proposed design as follows;
“The house fits into the landscape, and is of high design quality, having emerged from a proper site analysis, and solid understanding of scale, proportions and form”
The proposed house was built to near passive standard with thermal mass provided by a concrete block structure wrapped in external insulation. Expanses of southern glazing are set into a deep recess to provide shade and comfort.
